Young Women ~ January 2023

🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉

Hello 2023! We are so excited to welcome Emma Mitchell and Isabel Hernandez to Young Women! They are joining our Younger Class, and we can't wait to get to know them! In addition, we welcome Marsha DeAngelo as an adult adviser to our Younger Class. We know all of these new friends will bring amazing testimonies and a lot of fun to our Young Women organization.

Goodbye 2022! As we say farewell to 2022, we thank Charley Alexander, Juliann Southam, Ayla Hamblin, Brittana Alexander, Korie Brown, Dancyne Searle, and McKenna Webster for their service in class presidencies this past year. Watching our friends learn to lead has been a JOY. These amazing young women truly care for their classes and have worked hard to help our ward's youth organization run smoothly. We are excited to extend new leadership opportunities to other young women in the coming weeks.

Here's what else the Young Women have coming up this month... and beyond! Please read carefully so you don't miss anything, and please don't miss the Stake Youth Conference request at the end!

SUNDAYS

THANK YOU to Rachael and Charley Alexander for teaching a fabulous joint Relief Society-Young Women lesson in December. It was such a treat to meet with all the women in the ward and share our ideas about how to put the Lord first in our lives.

This year, our ward meets from 12-2 p.m. every Sunday. Young Women Sunday discussions are every second and fourth Sunday at 1 p.m. in the classrooms in the southeast corner of the back hallway of the church. Our Sunday curriculum is found in "Come, Follow Me--For Aaronic Priesthood Quorums and Young Women Classes: Doctrinal Topics 2023." This manual can be found in the Gospel Library app or online at www.churchofjesuschrist.org.

January 8, Amy will lead all of our Young Women in discussing "How Can I Bless Others with My Testimony of Jesus Christ?"
On January 22, we will discuss "How Is Jesus Christ a Light in My Life?" in separate classes. Please encourage your daughter to volunteer to teach this lesson!

Youth class presidencies meet every Sunday for about 10 minutes immediately after church.

WEEKNIGHT ACTIVITIES

The following activities are scheduled in January. This list lacks a lot of detail at the moment, but plans will be made at tomorrow night's "Planning & Pie" activity. Please encourage your daughter to not only attend this activity but also to bring her ideas for fun, Christ-centered activities for the coming months!

Names in parentheses indicate the young woman or group in charge and leader assisting. Generally speaking, our activities are on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the church (although some weeks are different... please keep an eye on your texts for more information).

January 4 - "Planning & Pie" (Charley, Brittana, Amy)
January 11 - Class activities: TBA
January 18 - Combined YW activity: TBA (Younger YW)
January 25 - Building combined activity: Line dancing (Bridlewood, 7th Ward Youth Councils)
February 1 - YM/YW Combined activity: TBA (Priests)

ALSO COMING UP

Sunday, January 29 - All youth and their parents are invited to a special Fifth Sunday discussion at 1 p.m. We will introduce our newest young men and women, discuss our 2023 goals, and talk about the new For the Strength of Youth guidebook.
Sunday, January 29 - All youth are also invited to a Worldwide Event for Youth, "I Can Do All Things through Christ," which will be broadcast at our church building at 7 p.m. The evening will also include more information about this summer's Youth Conference!

STAKE YOUTH CONFERENCE

The Stake Youth Committee has already begun planning a fabulous youth conference for this summer. To assist with their efforts, we have been asked to get a count of who may or may not be planning on attending. Here's the information we have so far:

Everyone is invited!
Youth turning 12 or 13 in 2023: Youth Conference will be during the day on Tuesday, June 13.
Youth turning 14-18 in 2023: Youth Conference will be Wednesday to Saturday, June 14-17. It will be a sleepover camp at Cinnamon Creek Camp near Paradise, Utah. (It's near Logan, about two hours away.)
